Daily Gazette - 2/24/2020

Feb. 24--DIXON -- The first in a series of lectures KSB Hospital is sponsoring to help change the focus from mental illness to brain health will be held Thursday at the Historic Dixon Theatre, 114 S. Galena Ave.

Ben Nemtin, mental fitness advocate and co-founder of MTV's "The Buried Life," struggled with depression and found a way to combat it by creating a bucket list with friends that grew into a global movement: "5 Steps to Making the Impossible Possible."

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; his presentation begins at 7 p.m.

KSB Hospital's community wellness division 10-part lecture series will include topics such as anxiety and panic attacks, ADHD, the aging brain, parenting resilience and suicide prevention.

Call 815-285-5990 or go to ksbhospital.com/events to register for Thursday's event. A $10 donation is suggested at the door; proceeds benefit the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
